What is an Affiliate?

An affiliate is a person who helps to sell products online. When those products are sold, the affiliate gets a percentage of the sale.

Affiliates are individuals who enter into an agreement with a company whereby the affiliate will promote the products on behalf of (or in tandem with) the manufacturer or distributor for a share of the transaction price of any sale generated by the efforts of the affiliate.

How does the affiliate get money from a sale?

When an affiliate registers with many of these online programs, the affiliate is given a hyperlink – typically in the form of https://website.example.com?aff=1234.

The affiliate then promotes this hyperlink to their audience on their social media or their own websites or campaigns.

The website in question recognizes the affiliate id portion of the link “aff=1234” and remembers that when a customer visits the website using this specific link, it should remember that any sales generated by this customer are attributed to the specific affiliate to who the link belongs.

Once the customer successfully purchases items, a percentage of the salve value of the customer cart is reserved for the affiliate in their Affiliate Wallet. Once the affiliate hits a specific minimum withdrawal amount, they are able to withdraw the funds from their Affiliate Wallet to their Bank account.

Affiliates can promote their links however they see fit, via Social Media content, viral videos, in-person promotions or even distributing stickers with QR codes representing their links – the possibilities are endless.
